Real Estate Experience
Mr. Martin is a licensed real estate broker in four states and has thirty years of experience and leadership in all facets of the real estate industry, including managing a residential real estate sales brokerage with 80 agents; a property management firm with 480 residential rental unit; commercial income property leasing and management; office, retail, industrial and golf course property development; Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) asset management and CMBS (commercial) mortgage servicing. He has taught pre-licensure, post-licensure and continuing education real estate courses as well as pre-broker and academic classes in economics and finance.
Participation in the Real Estate Industry
Mr. Martin, owner of Martin & Fellows Real Estate School a licensed Alabama private school, is a fully qualified real estate instructor. He is a member of the National, Alabama and several local area Associations of REALTORS® as well as the Real Estate Educators Association (REEA) and the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). He is a former president of the Georgia Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC-GA) and has served as a real estate testing content expert for two companies who prepare national real estate exams. At the request of the Alabama Real Estate commission Mr. Martin helped write the 2007 Alabama Broker pre-licensure course. He has authored on-line real estate courses in topics such as real estate law, ethics, agency and commercial brokerage and property management. As a consultant he has taught pre-licensure courses at Auburn University and at Alabama State University.
Participation in the Community
An active participant in community programs where he has lived, Mr. Martin serves as Community and Economic Development Consultant for the Town of Shorter Alabama. He has been a supporter of the Montgomery Symphony and was a corporate campaign chairman for the Montgomery United Way. He also previously served as a director of the Chamber of Commerce of Jackson, MS; as founder and chairman of trustees of Leadership Jackson, MS; as president of the Arts Alliance of Jackson Hinds County, MS; as a trustee of Tougaloo College in Jackson and Miles College in Birmingham; as chairman of trustees of the DeKalb County, GA library system; and as president of the Georgia Wildlife Federation. serves as Community and Economic Development Consultant for the Town of Shorter Alabama.
